Are vintage rugs durable enough for everyday use?
Yes! Most vintage rugs are hand-knotted from high-quality wool, making them incredibly durable—often even more so than modern machine-made rugs. With proper care, they’ll continue to stand the test of time.

Are vintage rugs eco-friendly?
Absolutely. Choosing a vintage rug means giving new life to an existing piece. Made from natural fibers and dyes, these rugs are a truly sustainable choice.

Why aren’t vintage rugs perfectly sized?
Each vintage rug was handwoven, often without strict templates. Slight asymmetries and size quirks are part of their charm, reflecting authentic craftsmanship.

Why does my rug have different colours or slight fading?
Over decades, vintage rugs develop a unique character. Color variations—known as abrash—occur naturally from differences in dye lots or how hand-dyed wool absorbs colour. It’s a beautiful hallmark of a handmade rug.

Will my rug have a smell when it arrives?
Sometimes a rug may carry a light scent from being tightly packed. This will fade quickly once unrolled and aired out. Because they’re made from natural wool and cotton, there’s no off-gassing or harsh chemical odours.

Care & Maintenance

How do I care for my vintage rug?
Vintage rugs are wonderfully sturdy. If spills happen, gently blot with a clean towel and water—avoid scrubbing. You can add a drop of mild dish soap if needed. For stubborn stains, we recommend using a professional cleaner who specializes in vintage or wool rugs.

Is shipping included?
Yes! We offer complimentary shipping across Canada. For international orders, please email us for a quote.

When will my rug ship?
Your order will be prepared and shipped within 2-5 business days.

Can I return my rug?
All sales are final. We’re always here to provide extra photos or answer questions to ensure your rug is a perfect fit before you purchase.

Viewing & Trade Program

Can I see the rugs in person?
Richmond Rugs doesn't have a physical storefront at this time. However, if you’re in the Calgary, AB area, we’d love to arrange a private viewing or local drop-off. Just email or send us a DM on Instagram.
